Senior Staff Software Engineer, Query and Data Platform

Rippling is a cloud-based platform that integrates HR, IT, and Finance. As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the development of the Query and Data Platform, which underpins every analytical experience across the platform. You will be responsible for architecting the future of RQL, driving platform maturation, optimizing performance, and collaborating with AI initiative leads to ensure the Data Cloud provides the necessary infrastructure to support complex data transformations.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in backend or data platform engineering
• Deep systems expertise with database internals, query optimization, or building custom compilers/programming languages
• Big data mastery with Trino/Presto, Apache Iceberg, and S3
• Scale and maturity with experience operating at massive scale and navigating system through growing pains of rapid organizational scaling
• Dual-ended impact with ability to whiteboard architectural vision with VPs and dive into complex debugging sessions with Staff engineers
• Product-minded infrastructure with focus on unlocking customer value and business impact
