
Job description
This role involves performing consulting-level work for power uprates in the nuclear industry, working with clients and project teams, and developing engineering proposals and cost estimates. The position requires a strong academic background and interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days a week in the office and two days remote.
The Mechanical Engineer Consultant 2 will perform independent reviews of work performed by others, lead and mentor junior engineering staff, and attend client meetings and site walkdowns. They will also review calculations and drawings, and evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.
This role requires a strong interest in numerical computations and problem solving, as well as excellent technical report writing skills. The position also requires a working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants.
