Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for implementing and reporting back on the goals and interventions listed in clients' recovery plans. The CNA also conducts therapeutic activities on the unit; assists with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, feeding, weighing, and walking clients; obtains and records vital signs; monitors clients on close visual observation such as 1:1 and Q15 minute checks; documents in charts and on forms; participates in preventing and managing psychiatric and medical emergencies; and ensures a safe and therapeutic environment on the unit by adhering to state and federal guidelines and by applying the principles of recovery and trauma-informed care.

Requirements

• Possession of a Delaware certification as a Nursing Assistant or eligibility for a Delaware certification
• Mentoring/orientation for newly hired/less experienced staff
• Leads individual/group therapeutic processes/discussions
• Participates on interdisciplinary care team
• Ensures aseptic integrity of feeding, catheter, and respiratory tubes/devices
• Monitors/records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, nutritional intake/output
• Escorts/is responsible for individuals' traveling to social/recreational activities and medical appointments on/off campus
• Applies appropriate interventions to prevent or de-escalate inappropriate behaviors
