The Security Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining operational control of communications for DMC Police Authority, monitoring life safety systems, processing and dispatching emergency & non-emergency calls, and demonstrating optimal customer service skills.
Requirements
- Monitoring and respond to life safety system - fire panel alarms, CCTV systems, infant abduction systems, access control, etc.
- Knowledge of individual hospital and exterior campus.
- Receiving emergency and non-emergency calls and recording significant information.
- Prioritizing calls according to urgency and importance.
- Using radio, phone or computer to send Police Authority Officers to respond to situations.
- Coordinating with police, fire department and other emergency response teams to ensure appropriate response is made to emergency situations.
- Understanding of police and fire response 911 notifications
- Reporting unusual activity to security staff who may investigate further or take action themselves.
- Tracking inquiries, reports and requests via manual or electronic logs.
- Providing exceptional customer service to staff, patients, visitors and physicians.
- Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties, as well as working knowledge of regulatory requirements needed for position.
- Emergency Management credentials FEMA 300, 400, 700.
