Texas Woman’s University – Denton Campus seeks a Professor of Aeronautical Sciences with an emphasis in Advanced Air Mobility and Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of research funding, publications, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Aeronautical Science, Aerospace Engineering, Unmanned Systems, Aviation Technology, or a closely related field.
- A strong record of externally funded research and peer-reviewed publications in UAS operations, policy, safety, autonomy, human factors, or related areas.
- Experience with FAA regulations, airspace integration, and emerging UAS technologies.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentorship at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with academic, industry, and government stakeholders.
- MS or BS in Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
- Active participation in ASSURE or other FAA/Industry-based UAS research initiatives.
- Expertise in UAS risk assessment, detect-and-avoid technologies, AI in aviation, or advanced UAS operations.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and experience with UAS flight testing.
- Experience in interdisciplinary research and securing competitive research grants.
