Job Description
Hearing and Vision Technicians 1 provide preschool and school-age hearing and vision screening in Michigan according to the Public Health Code. They are employed by local health departments and comprehensively trained by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to provide screenings in the LHD service area.
Requirements
- Provide preliminary hearing screening to children and adolescents
- Provide vision screening to children and adolescents
- Document results of screening correctly and in a timely manner
- Enter data into pre-approved forms and databases
- Correctly complete and submit necessary forms for each program, times sheets, and activity sheets in a timely manner
- Schedule screening sessions in the community
- Make follow-up telephone calls regarding screening sessions, results, and referrals
- Develop effective working relationships with a wide variety of people to assure efficient screenings
