Principal Bridge Engineer - Exeter

As a Principal Bridge Engineer at WSP, you will have a pivotal role in supporting local authority clients in the Southwest region to maintain and enhance their structures. The role involves designing new and replacement bridges, inspecting, assessing, repairing and strengthening existing structures, and taking projects through their entire life cycle from inception to construction.

Requirements

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
• Passion for working on projects that make a real difference to local communities
• Mature and self-aware approach to achieving high standards and safe working practices
• Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance, strengthening, assessment, inspection and supervision
• Practical knowledge and experience of project management of bridge projects
• Proven working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW) in relation to structural schemes
• Understanding and experience of use of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design
• Experience of design and assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures and masonry arch structures
• Experience of grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software packages
