Mechanical Engineer – Foot Sensing

We're an AI and robotics company based in Palo Alto, California, on a mission to build a truly abundant society through general-purpose robots capable of performing any kind of work autonomously. As a Mechanical Engineer – Foot Sensing, you will push the boundaries of force and tactile sensing in humanoid robotics by designing the next generation of robotic feet.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in mechanical design for sensing systems, robotics, or high-reliability consumer products.
• Strong understanding of force transmission, contact mechanics, and mechanical-to-electrical transduction.
• Hands-on experience characterizing sensors, running experiments, and analyzing performance across environmental and lifecycle conditions.
• Proven ability to design under tight constraints (size, load, durability, environmental exposure, manufacturability).
• History of successfully moving from rapid prototyping to production with high reliability.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with tight timelines and high technical complexity.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams.
• Proficiency with CAD and mechanical analysis tools; experience with simulation is a plus.
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
