9fin is seeking an experienced European Investment Grade Editor to lead its coverage of the credit market. The successful candidate will manage a team of financial journalists and own the editorial agenda, developing reporters and breaking market-moving stories. The role requires a strong understanding of the European IG market, excellent editing skills, and the ability to connect technical detail to bigger themes.
Requirements
- Several years of experience reporting on credit markets
- Deep familiarity with European Investment Grade — issuers, syndicate desks, the buy-side, the rhythm of primary issuance, and the macro and rates backdrop that drives the market
- A track record of breaking market-moving stories and developing original reporting that competitors don't have
- Strong editing instincts — able to take a draft and make it sharper, faster, better-sourced, with a clearer take
- Experience line-managing or formally mentoring other reporters
- Sound editorial judgement on what matters and what doesn't, and the confidence to make the call quickly when the market is moving
- Comfortable in the detail of credit — spreads, new issue premiums, curves, ratings, covenants — and able to connect that detail to the bigger themes shaping the asset class
- Excellent written English, with the ability to make technical topics accessible to a sophisticated reader without dumbing them down
- High accuracy, high standards, and the discipline to deliver consistently in a fast-moving market
