Job Description
Abilities First, Inc. is seeking a Substitute Teacher Aide for their Myers Corners Education Center in Wappingers Falls, NY. This position offers a chance to work with a blended team to implement educational programs for school-age children, assisting the teacher in classroom activities and providing support to students with diverse abilities. The role includes a weekly 48-week schedule with a summer program.
Requirements
- Follows the classroom schedule.
- Assists in the classroom.
- Keep student's workstations/areas organized.
- Assist in the construction of teacher-developed materials.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and job skill training.
- Attend therapy sessions with students.
- Assist in the organization and arrangement of the classroom in order to provide a conducive learning environment.
- Assist in the transportation and transfer of students.
- Perform wheelchair/equipment transporting, transferring and lifting.
- Assist with meal preparation and adaptation.
- Wash feeding equipment and provide adaptive supplies.
- Set up adaptive equipment.
- Perform other appropriate job-related activities as requested.
