The Payroll Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant and timely payroll and benefits related accounting for a large, multi-entity, multi-state organization. The role focuses on payroll account reconciliations, journal entries, benefits accounting/reconciliation, and supporting internal/external audits.
Requirements
- Reconcile employee benefit accounts and coordinate with HR/Total Rewards teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile benefit vendor invoices to payroll deductions and coordinate resolution of discrepancies with HR/Total Rewards.
- Reconcile payroll, benefit, payroll tax, and related general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances.
- Document payroll adjustments for accounting journal entries.
- Support payroll tax reconciliations, including quarter-end and year-end filings (W-2, T4, T2200, etc.).
- Support month-end and year-end close through reporting, analysis, and timely delivery of required schedules.
- Prepare payroll and benefits accounting reports for Finance and Corporate Accounting teams.
- Maintain documentation to ensure SOX/internal control compliance.
- Run and analyze ad hoc payroll and accounting reports as needed.
- Collaborate with Payroll, HR and Finance teams to ensure data integrity and compliance with company policies and GAAP.
- Other duties as assigned by Sr Manager Payroll Tax.
