Medical Assistant

Advanced Pain Care is hiring a Medical Assistant for our North Austin clinic location. Travel to surrounding APC clinics may be required, and mileage reimbursement will be provided. The Medical Assistant will assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician and/or mid-level provider, providing information, services and assistance to patients.

Requirements

• Greet patients, introduce self, and escort to exam room.
• Verify patient information, medical history, medications, and confirms purpose of visit.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts.
• Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records.
• Complete diagnostic and procedure coding as required/needed.
• Counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery.
• Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with the surgical center; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
• Operates standard office equipment (e.g. copier, personal computer, fax, etc.).
