Aecon Utilities is seeking a CAD QC Specialist to lead quality-control activities across FTTH and coaxial design packages, ensuring all drawings, documentation, and records meet Municipal Operations Centre standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three yearsâ experience in Telephony Outside Plant Engineering design, including copper and fibre networks and structural design.
Requirements
- Minimum of three yearsâ experience in Telephony Outside Plant Engineering design, including copper and fibre networks and structural design.
- High proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D), including experience customizing scripts, tools, and menus.
- Prior drafting or design experience in the Telephony industry.
- Proven experience obtaining Municipal Consents from various municipalities.
- College diploma or university degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Surveying), or equivalent field experience in telephony splicing, construction, or utility locating services.
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and municipal stakeholders.
- In-depth understanding of municipal standards; familiarity with CSA standards is considered an asset.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Solid understanding of telecommunications, electrical/civil engineering drawings, and site plans.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a strong attendance record and safety awareness.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to efficiently proofread technical documents.
- Effective decision-making skills under limited supervision.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing solutions or escalating when necessary.
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, process-driven environment.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks effectively.
