The Recreation Worker plans, develops, and runs recreation and leisure pursuits for residents in a long-term care setting, promoting wellbeing, purpose, creativity, and community.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with seniors, preferably in a long-term care setting.
- Graduate of a post-secondary diploma or degree program in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation or other related field from a community college or university.
- Enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or other related field with the intent to successfully complete the program within three years of being hired.
- OR A post-secondary degree or diploma in a health care related field and demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in providing recreation and leisure services in a health care setting.
