Hospital Coder

Hospital Coder applies skills and knowledge of currently mandated inpatient coding and classification systems to select the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes. This is a fully remote position responsible for selecting and sequencing codes for optimal reimbursement.

Requirements

• Use a computerized encoding system to facilitate accurate coding
• Sequence diagnoses and procedures by following ICD-10-CM/PCS and other fiscal intermediary guidelines
• Support reporting of healthcare data elements required for external reporting purposes
• Query provider for clarification and/or additional documentation when necessary
• Advance coding knowledge and practice through continuing education
• Demonstrate integrity and commitment to ethical and legal coding practices
• Comply with comprehensive internal coding policies and procedures
