Job Description
The Alberta Court of Justice and Alberta Justice welcome the interest of qualified lawyers who wish to be considered for appointment as a full-time or part-time Justice of the Peace. Applications are being sought for various locations across the province on an on-going basis.
Requirements
- Must be a Canadian citizen and a member in good standing of the Law Society of Alberta
- Must have a minimum of five years of related experience at the Bar
- Must go through a screening process and be recommended for appointment by the Judicial Council and the Alberta Judicial Nominating Committee
Benefits
- Remuneration for full-time Justice of the Peace has increased to $175,588 per year effective December 2024
- The per diem rate for part-time and ad hoc Justice of the Peace has increased to $1109 effective December 2024
- Shift differential rates effective December 2024 are: 59.88, 148.67, 59.87, 91.01, 208.54, 91.01, 119.75, 268.42
