As Shift Leader Deck, you are essential to the safe and efficient operation of our vessels' deck machinery and mission systems. You'll work on offshore projects worldwide, reporting to the First Engineer Deck, First Mechanic, and Chief Engineer, and collaborating with a skilled technical team.
Requirements
- Supervising technical staff or crew under your care during your shift.
- Overseeing the execution of planned maintenance, fault finding, and repair activities on deck and mission systems.
- Making rounds along deck technical equipment to monitor and control operations.
- Maintaining awareness of ongoing work in deck technical spaces and the status of equipment.
- Ensuring your shift is carried out efficiently and safely, in line with Allseas Integrated Management System (AIMS) standards.
- Ensuring smooth cooperation with other project-related departments.
- Acting as deputy for the First Engineer Deck or First Mechanic when required by the Chief Engineer.
- Timely administration, including planned maintenance and statutory logbooks.
- Ensuring all operational fluid levels (e.g., hydraulic fluids, gear oil, grease) are adequate.
- Operating machinery under your supervision as environmentally friendly and economically as possible.
- Ensuring thorough shift handover as per standing orders, both verbally and in writing.
- Keeping all personal documentation, such as passport, seaman's book, medical certificate, CoC, and safety (STCW) training certificates, up-to-date and valid.
- Performing duties as indicated on the station bill and fulfilling ship security duties.
- When working on pipelay vessels: set up pipelay mission equipment, monitor the pipelay process and propose improvements when required.
- When working on construction vessels: assist and advise the Construction Department in the use of heavy lift equipment and assist the ROV department when deemed necessary by the Chief Engineer.
- You will also have the authority to stop the job if safety or compliance is at risk, in line with the Allseas Integrated Management System, and to initiate necessary actions in an emergency situation.
