J56 Multilateral Operations Planner

Role Overview

Amentum is seeking a dynamic J56 Multilateral Operations Planner to provide research, planning and analysis support to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii. The role involves providing administrative, logistical, and technical support to the division, with a focus on supporting the Multilateral program and branch. The successful candidate will participate in senior-level strategic and multi-lateral planning and briefings, including preparing formal papers and background information for USINDOPACOM senior leader decision-making.

What You Will Do

The J56 Multilateral Operations Planner will conduct research, both unclassified and classified, on various topics supporting ongoing and emerging operational concepts, plans, and policies, distilling that research into actionable recommendations for OPLANs/CONPLANs as required. They will also provide timeline responses to specific questions pertaining to policy and operational plans; analyze subject plans and concepts for areas of concern; research and analyze various pertinent national security policies, military strategies, vulnerability assessments, threat and intelligence assessments; and inform planning efforts and new concept development.

They will also have in-depth knowledge of U.S. national plans and policy (National Security Strategy (NSS), National Military Strategy (NMS), Unified Command Plan (UCP), Guidance for Employment of the Force (GEF), and Joint Strategic Campaign Plan (JSCP).

Requirements

• Degree from an accredited college or university, or Graduation from a military command and staff college
• Field-grade Action Officer experience, supporting a Combatant Command-level Staff
• At least 10 years of experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD)
• At least 3 years of experience in military operations
• At least 3 years of experience working in military plans
• At least 3 years of experience in USINDOPACOM AOR
• Familiar with USINDOPACOM policy and strategy, USINDOPACOM TCP/TCO, GCPs, CT EXORD, OPLANs, CONPLANs, and Theater Security Cooperation Plans including linkages to parallel national interests
• Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated capacity to deliver briefings and written products to flag and general officers (FO/GO)- and Senior Executive Service (SES)-level officials
• Experience in operational and/or strategic levels of DoD planning and/or execution
• Knowledge of the planning continuum to include the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP), Joint Operating Concepts (JOC), and Joint Capabilities Areas (JCA)
• Thorough understanding of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) to include mission analysis, course of action development, analysis, comparison, recommendation, and approval
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. national plans and policy (National Security Strategy (NSS), National Military Strategy (NMS), Unified Command Plan (UCP), Guidance for Employment of the Force (GEF), and Joint Strategic Campaign Plan (JSCP)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Must have an active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
