Anduril Industries is seeking a skilled Senior Opto Mechanical Engineer to join their team, focusing on the design and development of advanced complex opto-mechanical and structural and electronics packing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, development, analysis, and manufacturing tasks on complex mechanical hardware including precision space structures and mechanisms in a program team environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in mechanical engineering (BSME), or MS with 8 plus years of experience in design, hardware, or integrated product development and testing, and excellent leadership/communication
- 5+ years of professional experience leading a multi-disciplinary mechanical engineering team through system requirements, design, analysis, test, hardware build, delivery and launch
- Opto-mechanical: Proven experience with techniques for mounting optical components (lenses, mirrors, prisms, detectors), including kinematic principles, flexure design, and adhesive bonding.
- Materials for Stable Structures: Experience designing with materials critical for athermal, low-CTE metals (Invar, Titanium), and ceramics.
- Proficiency in various CAD tools and openness to using new software, with the ability to create high-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards.
- Strong skills in material selection, finishing, component sizing, system design, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of contamination, outgassing and FOD control, and venting methodology.
- Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills.
- Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs (motors, controllers, sensors, etc.).
- Experience with machining and fabrication processes, sheet metal, and 3D printing.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5 GD&T) and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to drive projects from concept to completion
- Excellent written and verbal skills for documentation, presentations, and collaboration.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
