Supplier Engineer (Based in Penang)

Supplier Engineer role at Applied Materials, responsible for ensuring the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and interacting with New Product Introduction teams to develop and review specifications for design for manufacturability. The role involves supplier selection, technical audits, quality problem resolutions, and recommending materials to Design Engineering for cost savings and lead time reductions.

Requirements

• Work with New Product Development teams to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements
• Interact with New Product Introduction teams to develop and review specifications for design for manufacturability
• Use project management skills and quality tools to investigate alternate manufacturing processes
• Continuous involvement in the Supplier Selection Process to develop a supply base that provides competitive advantage
• Assist in the supplier technical audit process and evaluate supplier performance and capability
• Assist with quality problem resolutions and incident management
• Evaluates technical requirements of new and existing products
• Perform supplier production assessment to ensure serial production readiness
