The Figure Skating Instructor is responsible for assisting and/or running skating lessons at the Morgan Park Sports Center. The role involves providing instruction to youth and adults, demonstrating proper techniques, and enforcing safety and rules.
Requirements
- Provide instruction to youth (ages 3 and up) and adults
- Demonstrate proper use of equipment, techniques and methods of proper movement to achieve proficiency in sport
- Explain and enforce safety, rules and regulations
- Keep records and help coordinate events
- Keep management and parents informed of activities and problems as they arise
- Record attendance each day of class
- Instruct students in elements of class level
- Evaluate students on testing day, and complete forms required by program
- Encourage appropriate behavior of students
- Model appropriate behavior by respecting facilities, patrons and staff, not speaking negatively about patrons, other instructors or volunteers, using appropriate language in coaching, and in conversations with patrons, dressing appropriately and having a clean and tidy appearance
- Attend at least one continuing education seminar (in any skating discipline) per year
- Attend all Figure Skating Staff meetings as organized by Skating Coordinator
- Aid the Skating Coordinator in duties assigned or delegated
- Notify Skating Coordinator and management regarding absences, and find staff to substitute for you
- Complete other duties as assigned
