The Atlanta Speech School is seeking an Academic Apprentice Coach to support excellence in instruction and promote research-based practices for students with dyslexia and associated learning differences. The successful candidate will mentor teachers, provide instructional coaching, and teach one reading group to ensure small, highly differentiated groups.
Requirements
- Model effective teaching strategies and instructional techniques.
- Communicate feedback in a timely, constructive, and supportive manner.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and leadership.
- Balance coaching and teaching responsibilities with strong time-management skills.
- Knowledge: Strong foundation in dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities.
- Certification in at least one multisensory, research-based method of reading instruction and familiarity with others.
- Training in the Multisensory Math approach.
- Understanding of the integrated instructional model used at the Wardlaw School.
- Deep understanding of scientifically based reading research, including assessment and instructional practices.
- Demonstrated Skills: Expertise in classroom teaching, instructional planning, and classroom management.
- Evidence of continued professional growth throughout the candidate’s career.
- Effective verbal and written communication with colleagues and parents regarding children’s learning profiles, including strengths, areas of need, and progress toward goals.
- Ability to analyze student learning profiles to develop intervention plans and make appropriate recommendations to parents.
