Requirements
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification
- Asepsis principles and practices
- Surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving procedure
- Setup of sterile instrument table and preparation of supplies
- Assistance with draping of patient and operative area
- Maintenance of aseptic technique and corrective measures in the event of contamination
- Care, handling, and disposition of specimen
- Inspection of instruments, trays, and packages for sterility and completeness
- Proper functioning of instruments before use
- Correct receipt and labeling of solutions and medications
- Participation in Universal Protocol
- Fire risk assessment and safety measures
- Maintenance of sharps safety measures
- Organized sterile back table and point of use instrument cleaning standards
- Collaboration with peers, supervisors, surgeons, and anesthesiologists
