The Buyer - Material Procurement will manage the purchasing process, ensure procurement processes and purchase orders are compliant, and drive supplier management initiatives. The ideal candidate has 3+ years' experience in procurement, experience in the Defence / Marine industry, and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Requirements
- Manage the purchasing process from requisition to delivery
- Support the delivery of project objectives through the rigorous management of contract and supplier performance
- Ensure procurement processes and purchase orders are compliant with Babcock Canada's Commercial, Quality Assurance, and Security policies and procedures
- Drive supplier management initiatives, develop supplier relationships and ensure supplier performance in terms of time, cost, and quality as per contract requirements
- Be committed to and proactively identify, lead, and collaborate on procurement process improvement initiatives
- Encourage a continuous improvement culture while ensuring the team are proactively supporting change management
- Be responsible for the occupational health & safety of all direct reports under your supervision
- Assist the Procurement Manager and Senior Buyer as and when required with the day-to-day operation and management of the procurement activities
