The Graduate Peer Tutor position involves holding group tutoring sessions and office hours for graduate students, clarifying course topics, and assisting with problem-solving and test preparation. Tutors will also spend time preparing for each session, meeting with professors, and attending classes. This position requires strong communication skills, patience, and an understanding of diverse learning styles.
Requirements
- Hold one group tutoring session per week for 1-2 hours per session
- Assist students with problem-solving, test preparation, reviewing class material, and clarifying problems in specific course subject
- Hold office hours during the semester where students taking the course can ask questions about course material
- Prepare for each tutor session by meeting with the teaching faculty and occasionally attending class
- Check your email regularly and communicate with students about group tutor sessions and office hours
- Maintain outlook calendar with group tutor sessions
- Meet with the professors of your assigned subject at the beginning of each semester and regularly throughout the semester
- As schedule allows proctor exams
- Complete required tutor orientation, meet with Katherine Worthington as requested and respond to emails in a timely manner
- Track attendance at group tutor sessions and share with Graduate Academic Services
- Assume additional responsibilities as required
