Job Description
Backblaze is seeking a Senior Back-End Engineer to build and maintain systems for computer backup and restore exabytes of data. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in high-performance, multithreaded architectures and has experience with Java, AI coding agents, and frameworks.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with Java and a deep understanding of backend architecture
- Experience incorporating AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Gemini, Cursor, Claude Code) into engineering workflow
- Strong track record of proven project deliveries and successfully shipping complex software systems
- Professional experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL/Vitess, SQLite), observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch), and data formats (e.g., JSON, XML)
- Comfort working in a cross-platform environment and familiarity with filesystems (e.g., Ext4, NTFS, HFS+)
