The Medium Voltage Splicer is responsible for performing high-quality splicing, terminating, and testing of underground medium-voltage distribution systems for utilities, substations, and commercial facilities.
Requirements
- Perform splicing, terminating, and T-body installations on medium voltage cables
- Conduct MV switching operations in accordance with utility and site protocols
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications
- Collaborate with foremen and project managers to plan and execute work safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate documentation of splicing activities, test results, and materials used
- Ensure proper grounding and bonding of electrical systems
- Adhere to all safety protocols including lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and confined space procedures
- Participate in job site safety meetings and contribute to a culture of safety and accountability
- Train and mentor apprentices or junior splicers as needed
