Staff Database Engineer

Bazaarvoice is seeking a Staff Database Engineer to join their Data Operations team. The successful candidate will design, build, and support large-scale, distributed data systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and troubleshoot issues.

Requirements

• Identify, analyze, and resolve complex performance and scalability issues
• Deeply analyze execution plans, indexing strategies, concurrency, locking, and resource utilization
• Design and implement durable performance improvements across queries, schemas, and workloads
• Build automation and tooling to detect, diagnose, and remediate database performance issues
• Partner with application and platform teams to improve database access patterns and system design
• Establish, document, and enforce database performance best practices
• Clearly explain complex technical concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences
