Berklee College of Music is seeking an Assistant Chair for the Professional Music Department. The Assistant Chair will provide leadership in the practical implementation of artistic and educational goals, with a focus on student support, operations, and curricular offerings. This is a 12-month administrative position with an expected start date of August 2026.
Requirements
- Represent the department in administrative settings and externally
- Provide collaborative leadership in advancing departmental goals
- Support departmental operations and day-to-day logistical coordination
- Advise students on academic progress, career goals, and artistic development
- Assist with faculty and staff recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, development, and evaluation
- Support curriculum development, implementation, and review
- Promote student success and recruitment
- Coordinate and implement strategic projects
- Organize and facilitate department-sponsored events
- Assist with the management of Department budgets
- Serve on Department, Division, and College committees
- Teach a minimum of one course per fall/spring semester
- Maintain professional engagement
