Staff Data Engineer

Bestow is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the technical infrastructure and architecture for their data platform. The role involves defining technical roadmaps, mentoring engineers, designing scalable APIs, and ensuring data reliability and quality. Bestow aims to modernize the life insurance industry by simplifying data and automating processes.

Requirements

• 10+ years working in a data engineering role supporting incoming/outgoing feeds and analytics/data science.
• 5+ years of experience with advanced Airflow and Python.
• 3+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining production APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC).
• 3+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and experience with AI coding tools.
• Deep expertise with columnar databases and advanced SQL.
• Proven track record designing end-to-end data pipelines in cloud frameworks (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Experience with CICD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi, Git), and containerization (Docker, CircleCI).
• Experience with data orchestration frameworks (Apache Airflow) and strong understanding of standard IT security practices.
• Experience in building streaming/real-time ingestion pipelines.
• Experience with creating alerts and monitoring pipelines.
• Experience with containerization technologies.
• Expert knowledge of data orchestration frameworks.
