As a per diem temporary inpatient clinical dietitian at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, you will assess the nutritional status and plan nutrition interventions for patients, while developing collaborative practice with physicians and other disciplines. The ideal candidate is available 32 hours per week and has a BS in Food and Nutrition or a related field.
Requirements
- Adheres to Nutrition Screening, Assessment, and Follow-up - Inpatient Policy
- Completes a comprehensive assessment based on food and nutrition-related history, biochemical data, medical tests and procedures, anthropometric measurements, nutrition focused physical exam, and patient history
- Orders laboratory tests needed to complete assessment
- Calculates metabolic needs for energy, protein, fluid, electrolytes, and other nutrients
- Selects appropriate nutrition diagnosis
- Initiates nutrition intervention
- Monitors and evaluates response to intervention
- Documents assessment and plan of care
- Communicates with care team
- Provides nutrition education
- Counsels patients on potential food/drug interactions
- Collaborates with food service colleagues
- Coordinates care with case managers and home care companies
- Maintains productivity log
- Precepts dietetic interns
- Participates in marketing and community outreach initiatives
- Participates in quality and safety initiatives
- Maintains confidentiality
- Complies with Lahey Health policies
- Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients
