Sr. Manager, AI Engineering

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is seeking a transformative Senior Manager of AI Engineering to lead the technical strategy and execution of our next-generation agentic AI systems. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep technical expertise who can provide clear vision and mentorship to a talented AI development team.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience, with a proven track record in both functional and people management roles
• 5+ years of experience managing technical teams within a matrix delivery organization using Agile methodologies
• Demonstrated experience defining a strategic technical vision and successfully aligning engineering teams with business goals
• Strong background in designing scalable agentic architectures and establishing development best practices
• Solid understanding of core AI/ML concepts, including model training, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and major AI platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Deep expertise in Governance, Information Security, Solution Architecture, and Systems Integration
• Hands-on programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java for building and implementing AI models
