Senior Software Engineer

The VCF team at Broadcom is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their vCenter team. The role involves defining the technical vision, architecting, and leading the implementation of complex distributed systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of distributed systems concepts, technologies, and programming languages, with a strong ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree plus 12+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a lead architect or principal engineer role focusing on distributed systems or Masters degree and 10+ years of related experience or PhD and 7+ years of related experience
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience with various distributed systems concepts, technologies (e.g. distributed databases, consensus algorithms, fault tolerance, consistency models)
• Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages: This role requires strong Java and C++. Additional languages (Python, GoLang) a plus
• Experience with virtualization technologies, particularly the VMware stack (vSphere, ESXi), is highly desirable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
