Assistant Coach, Women's Rugby

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Assistant Coach, Women’s Rugby position. The Assistant Coach is the assistant to the Head Coach, taking on significant responsibilities in practice planning, game strategy, and player mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• 2-4 years of coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level
• Strong knowledge of the sport and player development
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Solid understanding of the sport’s rules, strategies, and techniques
• Working knowledge of NCAA/league compliance requirements
• Knowledge of athlete skill development and position-specific training
• Understanding of recruiting processes and athlete evaluation methods
• Awareness of injury prevention and safe training practices
• Strong instructional and coaching skills for both individual and team development
• Effective communication skills with athletes, colleagues, and recruits
• Organization and time management skills
• Ability to utilize video analysis and performance review tools
• Basic data collection and performance tracking skills
• Ability to assist in designing and executing practice plans
• Ability to evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback
• Ability to support recruiting initiatives and relationship-building with prospective athletes
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond effectively under pressure
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to compliance standards
