People Operations Specialist

Built In is looking for a People Operations Specialist to join their team. The role involves maintaining accurate employee data, coordinating onboarding and office operations, and supporting employees across various HR processes. This is a hands-on role with high visibility and an expectation of reliability and responsiveness. The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of experience in HR, People Operations, or a related field, and strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication skills. The role is based in Chicago with an in-office expectation of three days per week.

Requirements

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee data across systems (HRIS, ATS, and internal tools)
• Coordinate onboarding end-to-end, ensuring every new hire has a smooth, organized, and professional first experience
• Execute employee lifecycle changes (promotions, compensation updates, status changes) accurately and on time
• Support U.S. benefits administration, including enrollments, audits, employee questions, and vendor coordination
• Act as a reliable first point of contact for employee questions, providing clear, timely responses and escalating when appropriate
• Coordinate recruiting logistics, including scheduling and candidate communication, ensuring a polished and responsive candidate experience
• Support day-to-day office operations, including vendor management, supplies, and maintaining a well-run, welcoming workspace
• Maintain and update internal resources (policies, documentation, Notion), ensuring information is accurate and easy to access
• Identify small process improvements and follow through to implement them
