Lactation Consultant, Full Time Days

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate breastfeeding mothers to achieve their individual goals. Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding.

Requirements

• Conduct bedside lactation rounds daily
• Serve as a clinical resource to all units within the hospital on issues related to breastfeeding
• Collaborate with staff, physicians, and families on developing resolutions to any inpatient breastfeeding problems
• Participate in the review, development, and implementation of standards of care, policies, and guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers
• Organize and provide prenatal breastfeeding classes to prospective breastfeeding women
• Provide telephone support to women who call with questions regarding breastfeeding
• Maintain, review, and monitor breastfeeding equipment loaned throughout the hospital
• Provide oversight of the Lactation Assistants and be available to assist them with consults
