Requirements

• Provide leadership and direction across multiple functions
• Develop and implement strategies for delivery and distribution
• Align supply chain resources and key communication links
• Work with sales and manufacturing and third-party logistics providers
• Provide coaching and development opportunities
• Manage the daily freight & distribution operations
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with freight forwarders and transportation providers
• Identify, lead, and participate in continuous improvement projects
• Manage product and logistics suppliers
• Effectively resolve problems
• Run daily planning meetings
• Create monthly vendor forecasts and carrier allocation plans
• Manage carrier performance data
• Periodically audit documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Provide the highest quality of customer support
• Build relationships with customers, offices, overseas and domestic agents, and service providers
• Analyze transportation methods and procedures
• Secure competitive freight rates
• Use/Apply data mining techniques and analysis
• Create reports on transportation cost trends, carrier utilization and effectiveness
• Maintain & communicate best practices
• Develop internal policies and procedures
• Maintain communication with vendors, buyers, Customs, custom brokers, forwarders, and steamship lines
• Negotiation of spot rates
• Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned
