The Cecil County Public Library (CCPL) serves a growing population of roughly 100,000 residents in Maryland's rural Chesapeake Bay region with a network of seven branches, including a 25,000‑square‑foot central library in Elkton. CCPL focuses on delivering comprehensive collections, digital access via SirsiDynix and the iBistro web catalog, and award‑winning programming for adults, children, and young adults. In response to rapid community growth, the library system is expanding its facilities and services to meet increasing demand for educational and cultural resources. Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, the Library Associate II provides high quality information, reader, and technology services to the Rising Sun community while consistently delivering caring, non-judgmental customer service.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college
- Introductory knowledge of library systems, of alpha numeric filing, of the Dewey Decimal System, of reference materials and methods available to assist patrons
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Excellent PC skills and experience with software packages
- Knowledge of Windows operating system, internet resources and other technologies and how to use them effectively
- Ability to analyze and perform and or manage a wide variety of library projects
- Knowledge of books, authors, current events
- Ability to reach, bend and lift up to 35 lbs
- Ability to push/pull a rolling book carts
