The Production Planner is responsible for executing job/role accountabilities, working independently on most aspects of the job, and making decisions that may have a negative impact on division/departments operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. The role involves planning, organizing, controlling, and executing production schedules for designated products, analyzing inputs, and revising plans as required.
Requirements
- Plans, organizes, controls, and executes production schedules for designated products
- Analyzes inputs to determine schedule
- Ensures quality and integrity of information used to generate materials requirements plan
- Revises plans as required based on analysis of actuals versus plan
- Manages issues associated with engineering changes
- Participates in the introduction of new products and supports the transfer/de-transfer of existing products
- Communicates information on materials availability
- Maintains knowledge of customer volume fluctuations and determines materials required
- Develops and communicates short- and long-term commitments to customers to ship products
- Coordinates necessary resources to meet shipment commitments
- Reviews and reports on aggregate levels of product inventory
- Develops recovery plans if missed shipments occur
- Leads continuous improvement of planning processes
- Provides leadership and support to employees
- Makes decisions surrounding workload allocation and hiring practices
- Provides expert role to other sites and departments
