Refund Specialist-FT/Days

The Refund Specialist reviews patient accounts, identifies overpayments, and issues refunds. This position works with insurance companies and internal billers to reconcile payments.

Requirements

• Identifies credit balances due to electronic or manual insurance overpayments, patient overpayments, and adjustments resulting from denials or contractual allowances.
• Investigates and resolves assigned credit balance accounts by work queue assignment.
• Corrects patient and insurance payments to patient accounts, calculates, enters, and corrects contractual adjustments and patient discounts if needed.
• Issues patient and insurance refunds.
• Detects posting and payer trends and/or errors.
• Handles both internal and external phone calls regarding credit balances and refunds.
• Answers and process all refund correspondence request in a timely and accurate manner.
