Building Engineer

We are seeking a Building Engineer to manage the day-to-day physical condition and appearance of a 75-unit, five-building community in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will possess technical knowledge, hands-on skills, and excellent customer service skills.

Requirements

• Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues
• Manage HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance
• Monitor and log energy and water consumption metrics
• Oversee building security and access control mechanisms
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on units and building systems
• Inspect buildings and grounds daily, record findings, and execute or recommend repairs if needed
• Ensure compliance with local and federal regulations
• Implement preventive maintenance programs
• Respond to emergency situations, such as power outages or water leaks
• Maintain and update maintenance logs and work orders
• Assist in space planning and renovation activities
• Inspect and confirm turnover units are available for occupancy
• Coordinate with contractors and other service providers for large-scale projects
• Ability to work on-call shifts and respond to emergencies
• Ensure all service maintenance requests are appropriately documented and resolved by the appropriate staff
• Ensure parking lot is free of recycling and or refuse
• Accurately document pending and completed repair matters in a timely manner
• Maintain the property's equipment and materials inventory
