Job Description
Check is building payroll businesses with embedded payroll and simplifying complex financial processes. They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build and scale the systems powering their payroll run, from APIs to infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of systems thinking, hands-on experience with AWS, and the ability to own end-to-end technical outcomes.
Requirements
- Design and scale systems for money handling, tax filing, and payroll functionality.
- Drive improvements to infrastructure, reliability, and developer experience.
- Lead projects that simplify architecture and increase performance.
- Shape how Check builds software by improving CI/CD, observability, and developer tooling.
- Collaborate closely with other teams to deliver technical solutions.
