The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing quality patient care according to the Community Clinic of Jefferson County and New York State Office of Mental Health Standards of nursing practice. The RN must be able to respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies, work in collaboration with other medical and non-medical professional staff, and provide comprehensive, cost-effective care.
Requirements
- Conducts nursing assessments and triages patients' physical and psychosocial needs.
- Collects and reviews relevant medical information and communicates findings to prescribing providers.
- Develops and implements nursing plans of care under the direction and oversight of licensed prescribers.
- Administers medications and treatments as ordered by the prescribing provider.
- Documents all nursing services accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Provides patient, parent, guardian, and foster parent education related to medications, treatment plans, and health conditions.
- Maintains current knowledge of nursing standards, OMH regulations, and agency policies.
- Participates in quality improvement activities and compliance efforts across programs.
- Serves as a nursing resource to multidisciplinary staff.
- Maintains confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and agency privacy policies.
