The Building Inspection - Inspector - Electrical Apprentice I/II/III position is responsible for assisting and performing skilled field inspections and office work in the enforcement of adopted building codes and regulations regarding electrical installations. The position requires knowledge of electrical construction and installation methods, practices, and materials, as well as the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Requirements
- Four years of experience in electrical service installation work as an apprentice level electrician
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Journeyman license through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) within 12 months of employment
- Residential Inspectors Certification through the International Code Council (ICC) within 12 months of employment as an Inspector - Electrical I
- Commercial Electrical Certification through the International Code Council (ICC) within 24 months of employment as an Inspector - Electrical II
- Continued training through the International Code Council (ICC) to maintain all required certifications obtained for Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
- Electrical Plans Examiner Certification from the International Code Council (ICC) within 24 months of employment as an Inspector - Electrical III
