Job Description
Code Enforcement Officer performs interior and exterior inspections of commercial buildings, structures, multi-family complexes, residential properties, and developed and undeveloped land to ensure compliance with municipal codes and ordinances. The role involves enforcing City codes and ordinances, conducting inspections, and issuing notices of violation. The Code Enforcement Officer works with community members and other City departments to resolve neighborhood disputes and provide education on City codes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least one (1) year of experience in enforcement-related fieldwork
- Knowledge of general building, construction & housing practices, standards, procedures, and requirements
- Dispute resolution techniques and methods
- Personal computers and software applications
- Inspections require general knowledge of building structures, electrical, plumbing, heating, hot water heaters, fire regulations, egress windows, lighting, and occupancy standards
