Job Description
Under the direction of the Wastewater Collections Supervisor and supervision of the Crew Leader, performs work on all aspects of the wastewater collection system including all maintenance, repair, and new installation. Considered entry level, this position typically has 0-1 year experience and is working towards obtaining a Class I Wastewater Operator License.
Requirements
- Assists in ensuring that the wastewater collection system is operated and maintained in accordance with Federal, State, and City regulations related to public health.
- Assists in the installation, repair, replacement, cleaning, and televising of wastewater collection mains, services, and all other appurtenances.
- Measures, cuts, assembles, and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, clay, and plastic.
- Drives and operates dump trucks to transport and unload materials.
- Drives and operates tractors, backhoes, mini-excavators, skid steers, combination jetter/vacuum trucks, CCTV equipment and other heavy machinery.
- Provides traffic control and is a safety spotter for others working on or near streets or in ditches.
- Maintains crew vehicles and equipment including fuel, lubrication, tools, and parts inventory. Ensures all tools and equipment are properly cleaned and stowed.
- Assists in the removal and replacement of landscaping, sidewalks, and driveways before and after the completion of projects.
- Able and willing to work a rotational stand-by schedule and able to work overtime as needed.
- This position is considered a first responder in the event of a citywide emergency or disaster situation. During such an event, this position will respond and perform tasks that are assigned based on the need of the situation.
