Job Description
Join the City of Chattanooga Team in the vibrant and growing community of Chattanooga, known as the 'Scenic City'. The Assistant Director Development Services role is responsible for managing inspection activities, enforcing city codes, and overseeing the administration of permits and documents. The incumbent will serve as the Building Official, responsible for interpreting applicable codes and enforcing compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in a related field and completion of an apprenticeship in a skilled trade area
- Eight (8) years of progressively responsible building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing inspections experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Special Police Commission Certification within six (6) months
- Building Inspector Certification and International Residential Inspector Certification by the International Code Council, and accepted by the State Fire Marshal's Office
- Certified Building Official by the International Code Council, the National Fire Protection Association Certification, or Other International Code Council
