Job Description
The 2026 Police Officer position is the first rank of the Marietta Police force that includes both non-certified and certified officers. The officer will work under the general supervision of an assigned sergeant and perform a wide range of law enforcement functions to promote public safety and security.
Requirements
- Must be at least 19 3/4 years of age at time of written exam and a U.S. citizen
- Must be fluent in the English language
- Must pass a written entry examination, background investigation, and oral examination, polygraph examination, and drug screen
- Must obtain a Georgia Peace Officer Standard Training certification (POST) by the end of working test period and maintain certification annually
- Must achieve and maintain certification in the use of firearms
- Must be free of any felony convictions, domestic violence convictions, or sufficient misdemeanor convictions to evidence a pattern
- Must be of good habits and moral character
