Job Description
This is a journey level job in the Sanitation Division responsible for driving and operating a trash collection or compactor truck and the brush collection truck with trailer as assigned. The position involves collecting trash, garbage, and brush from residential routes, managing crew production, and ensuring safety and efficiency. The job also requires performing daily preventative maintenance inspections on the truck, washing and cleaning the truck daily, and running brush routes.
Requirements
- Class B Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Satisfactory seven-year driving history with no DUI’s in the last 5 years
- Recent outdoor and heavy work experience
- Ability to lift and carry garbage/trash/brush loads weighing approximately 35 to 100 pounds several times daily
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and understand verbal instructions
- Ability to add and subtract whole numbers and carry out simple instructions
- Knowledge of the operation of a garbage packer
- Ability to use simple hand tools
