The City of Milwaukee is seeking a Document Technician I to convert records to digital form and assist with the operation of the City Records Center. The position requires one year of experience working in an office, library, mailroom or warehouse environment, and a high school diploma or equivalent is required. The ideal candidate will have experience in document imaging or records management, and a Associate Degree in Business Management, Administrative Professional or a related field is preferred.
Requirements
- One year of experience working in an office, library, mailroom or warehouse environment
- Direct experience processing documents using scanning equipment
- Ability to learn and perform various data entry and quality control functions in records management and document imaging software programs
- Ability to learn and utilize specialized scanning equipment
- Ability to acquire and utilize knowledge of the CRC collections to identify sources of information to locate, retrieve and fulfill records requests
- Ability to learn operating procedures for new and/or unfamiliar information systems, software platforms, and specialized scanning and metering equipment
- Ability to read and comprehend work-related documents
- Proficiency with standard computer applications such as word processing and email
- Ability to accurately communicate information to residents, co-workers and customers of the CRC
- Ability to effectively document records and transactions, including general correspondence to CRC customers
- In-person and remote (phone, email, etc.) customer service etiquette to effectively assist customers
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with coworkers and residents whose backgrounds may differ from one’s own
